Making flour is the oldest profession in the world. At Grandi Molini Italiani, they have learned this trade from their ancestors, millers who milled wheat on the banks, or \u201ccoast\u201d of the river Po: this is where their surname comes from. Today they have reached the sixth generation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
1886 – <\/strong>Antonio Costato (1825-1900) was awarded a license by King Umberto I of Italy to take water from the river Po for a steam engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1921 – <\/strong>Marcello Costato (1871-1937) built one of the first industrial mills in Rovigo. His son Antonio (1908-1983) developed it into a large national company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1958 – <\/strong>Luigi Costato (1934), founded Molino Costato in Rome and, through subsequent acquisitions, expanded flour exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1978 – <\/strong>In 1978 Grandi Molini Italiani becomes bigger with the addition of the mill in Porto Marghera (VE)<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1991 – <\/strong>Addition of the mill in Coriano Veronese (VR)<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1996 – <\/strong>In 1996 the company sees the addition of the mill in Cordovado (PN)<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2000 – <\/strong>Grandi Molini Italiani strengthens its logistics and distribution operations with the addition of the Trieste and Vienna terminals<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2007 – <\/strong>Addition of Triera Power, the bioenergy production division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2015 – <\/strong>In view of Expo 2015, the Venice plant was redeveloped with the AAA mill project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2017 – <\/strong>Antonioluigi Costato (1986) was the first sixth- generation family member to join the company, committed to upgrading its processes and corporate image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2020 – <\/strong>With a decree of the Chamber of Commerce of Venice and Rovigo on 16 January 2020, Grandi Molini Italiani is officially in the Register of Historic Companies of Italy.
